Bumper-to-Bumper and Powertrain Warranties: Two Different Products

Bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranties are not the same things. Each warranty is responsible for different components in the car. Bumper-to-bumper warranties protect parts and systems operating between the front and rear bumper, things like the steering, lights, and radio.

Powertrain warranty covers the parts that power the vehicle. It will cover some major components like the engine and drivetrain. If any of the covered parts prematurely fail, the warranties kick in. The dealer or manufacturer will repair or replace the defective parts or systems.

The warranties do not run out at the same time. One usually expires before the other. Manufactures set the timelines, and there is no mandatory standard. All new vehicles come with warranties, and some used cars have warranties too.

If you are in the market for a new or used car, stop by Washington Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram located in Washington, NC. Our friendly new car sales staff can show you different vehicles and explain each one's warranties.
